Layla Cultural Platform Contest for Novels and Short Stories

Available domains for participation:

1. Novels:

• Manuscript can be in any genre.
• Must be written in English.
• Must respect grammatical and punctuation rules.
• Please use Times New Roman size 12 font, with double spacing. Adjust all margins to be 2.5 cm. Add page numbers to the footer of the page.
• The manuscript must be original. Plagiarism is not acceptable or tolerated.
• Candidates can participate in only one domain at a time.
• Works that have won other awards are not accepted.
• The author must be alive and submit his/her work in person.
• The work must be at least 20,000 words in length.
• If the committee discovered, at any later point, that the candidate didn’t comply to any of the above terms, the prize will be revoked.
• If any of the above terms are not met, the committee has the right to reject the manuscript. The committee also reserves the right to adjust the work for grammatical and syntactic errors before publication.

2. Short Stories:

• Manuscript can be in any genre.
• Must be written in English.

3. Very Short Stories:

• Manuscript can be in any genre.
• Must be written in English.
• Must respect grammatical and punctuation rules.
• Please use Times New Roman size 12 font, with double spacing. Adjust all margins to be 2.5 cm. Add page numbers to the footer of the page.
• The manuscript must be original. Plagiarism is not acceptable or tolerated.
• Candidates can participate in only one domain at a time.

• The work must be between 500 and 700 words in length.
• If the committee discovered, at any later point, that the candidate didn’t comply to any of the above terms, the prize will be revoked.
• If any of the above terms are not met, the committee has the right to reject the manuscript. The committee also reserves the right to adjust the work for grammatical and syntactic errors before publication.

How to apply:

1. Fill out the application form (Click here for the Arabic version). The form contains personal data and a short CV.
2. Send the filled in form to admin@laylacp.net, along with your manuscript file.
3. The manuscript must be in MS Word format. Works submitted in PDF format will not be accepted.

Winning works will be electronically published on Layla Cultural Platform, according to the Creative Commons license.
